On 12.02.2014, Ms. Janette turned 84 years old. At 4 clock in the morning she wakes up to run, the rest of the day she fishes. As the only fisherwoman on the coast of Beirut, she tells her story about the transformation of the city, her love to the sea and its landfill for building ground reclamation. Her house was taken without compensation by Solidere, the largest local private real estate company, responsible for the coast redesigning after the Civil War. Thereupon followed a suicide attempt. “The sea is man’s best friend. It takes, but it does not give.” Ever since, she fishes between the yachts of their “enemies”.
